ABOUT THE EWG AND THIS REPORT

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a non-profit, non-partisan, research-based public health advocacy organization and publisher of the National Drinking Water Database. The data in your water quality report shows the results of tests conducted by your water utility and provided to EWG and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Enforcement and Compliance History database (ECHO).

Understanding your results

What does ppb mean?

ppb stands for parts per billion. It represents the concentration of a contaminant in water.

Why are the EWG’s guidelines so much stricter than the legal limit?

The EWG’s guidelines are based on the most current science. Legal limits for contaminants in tap water have not been updated in 20 years, so when it comes to water quality, legal does not necessarily mean safe.

What should I be worried about?

Any contaminant that exceeds EWG’s guidelines should be cause for concern. Those that exceed recommendations by tens of times, should be your top priority. Our product recommendation determines the best Tradewinds system for you.

How can I remove or reduce these contaminants?

A NSF certified chemical-free, multi-staged, residue-free filtration system is the preferred water purification method.
